This guide explains the coast of Sweden on the Baltic Sea, the North Sea; calculations, observations and product limits remain distinct.
Read a local tide
Sweden’s coast includes both the Baltic and Skagerrak/Kattegat, where water-level patterns differ. SMHI publishes observations in RH 2000; the reference system, station and time must stay with the datum. A west-coast observation does not automatically describe a Baltic place.
Tidal range and coast
Along Sweden’s coast, wind-driven water-level variation can matter alongside the astronomical component. Form, archipelago and open sea give different local responses. Do not use a national number to decide whether a particular beach, jetty or path is accessible.
Prediction, model and observation
An observation is a measured water level in a stated system, not a future prediction. Models and forecasts have their own assumptions and times. Compare only products with clear station, date and timestamp; absent data remains unknown information.
Plan a coast visit
Bathing water, reserves, fishing and local access rules must be checked with the responsible authority and on site. Coastal signs can change independently of water level. The guide explains data origin and does not replace a local decision before an activity.
